FedEx has kept commerce moving and delivered critical shipments throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We are entering another holiday peak season during which we expect continued high demand for capacity and increased operating costs across our network. We again anticipate the surge in residential volume to carry over into the new year.
To continue providing our customers with the best possible service during this challenging time, we are implementing or making changes to the following peak surcharges and fees.

4Beginning on January 17, 2022, customers who shipped more than 25,000 weekly average residential (excluding FedEx One Rate packages) and FedEx Ground Economy packages (total for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground U.S. domestic) during either of the Calculation Periods set forth below will be charged an additional $0.60 per residential package for the Residential Delivery Charge. This charge will apply to FedEx Express and FedEx Ground U.S. domestic residential packages (excluding FedEx Ground Economy and FedEx One Rate packages).
Peak — Residential Delivery Charge
Customers at the enterprise level who meet a certain volume threshold (as indicated below) will be charged a Peak — Residential Delivery Charge for packages shipped during Nov. 1, 2021–Jan.16, 2022. The scope of a customer's volume shall be determined by FedEx in its sole discretion. The Peak — Residential Delivery Charge will be assessed in addition to the customer’s Residential Delivery Charge. Any contracted discount or cap the customer may have on the Residential Delivery Charge will not apply to the Peak — Residential Delivery Charge. For invoicing purposes, this charge will be combined with the customer’s Residential Delivery Charge. Your FedEx sales representative will reach out to you regarding how it may impact you.
- For customers who ship more than 25,000 weekly average residential* and FedEx Ground Economy packages (total for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground U.S. domestic) from Oct. 4, 2021–Oct. 17, 2021, the Peak - Residential Delivery Charge reflected in the chart below will apply Nov. 1, 2021–Dec. 12, 2021. The amount charged per package will be based on a Peaking Factor, calculated as weekly average residential* and FedEx Ground Economy packages shipped Oct. 4, 2021–Oct. 17, 2021, divided by weekly average residential* and FedEx Ground Economy packages shipped Feb. 3, 2020–March 1, 2020, multiplied by 100. Peaking Factor and amount charged are determined separately for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground.
- For customers who ship more than 25,000 weekly average residential* and FedEx Ground Economy packages (total for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground U.S. domestic) from Nov. 15, 2021–Nov. 28, 2021, the Peak - Residential Delivery Charge reflected in the chart below will apply Dec. 13, 2021–Jan. 16, 2022. The amount charged per package will be based on a Peaking Factor, calculated as weekly average residential* and FedEx Ground Economy packages shipped Nov. 15, 2021–Nov. 28, 2021, divided by weekly average residential* and FedEx Ground Economy packages shipped Feb. 3, 2020–March 1, 2020, multiplied by 100. Peaking Factor and amount charged are determined separately for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground.
- For weeks with holidays, weekly average value will be prorated based on the FedEx normal operating days during non-holiday weeks.
- Beginning on January 17, 2022, customers who shipped more than 25,000 weekly average residential (excluding FedEx One Rate packages) and FedEx Ground Economy packages (total for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground U.S. domestic) during either of the Calculation Periods set forth above will be charged an additional $0.60 per residential package for the Residential Delivery Charge. This charge will apply to FedEx Express and FedEx Ground U.S. domestic residential packages (excluding FedEx Ground Economy and FedEx One Rate packages).
