UPS Chief Executive Officer David Abney has announced changes to several of the company's senior leadership assignments.

Teresa Finley, Treasurer and Vice President, Corporate Finance, will be promoted to Senior Vice President, Global Marketing, and will join the UPS Management Committee, the company's senior-most leadership group. In addition to marketing, Finley also will be responsible for advanced analytics, UPS Capital and UPS intellectual property management.

Finley's appointment is part of a broader initiative within UPS to intensify the company's focus on growth and commercial strategies by creating distinctive customer value. Finley will report to Alan Gershenhorn, UPS Chief Commercial Officer.

"UPS has identified several growth opportunities that require additional focus throughout the organization," said Abney. "Our marketing strategies are central to our plan to profitably expand our presence in key global markets and industry segments. Teresa possesses diverse operations and corporate experience and she has the leadership character, global perspective and industry insights needed to help UPS attain its growth objectives."

Also, John McDevitt, Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Labor Relations, has announced his plan to retire after 38 years of service. "John's leadership has been instrumental in guiding UPS human resources policies and personnel to improve our organization's effectiveness," Abney said.

Teri McClure, currently Chief Legal, Communications and Compliance Officer, will lead Human Resources, Legal and Employee Communications staffs. Meanwhile Mitch Nichols, currently Senior Vice President of UPS Transportation and Engineering, will also assume added responsibility for UPS Labor Relations.

Kurt Kuehn, Chief Financial Officer, will add the Audit and Compliance staff functions to his existing responsibilities. In addition, Richard Peretz, Corporate Controller, will be promoted to take an expanded role in Finance and Accounting, reporting to Kuehn. Peretz will serve as Corporate Controller for all UPS business units, and accept a new role as Corporate Treasurer.

Gershenhorn will assume responsibility for oversight of the UPS Public Affairs staff, led by Laura Lane, UPS President of Public Affairs. Also, Ed Buckley will be named President, Communications, and report to Gershenhorn. He will have responsibility for UPS Global Corporate Brand and Communications Management and digital and small customer strategies.

"These organizational changes will create a more aligned commercial organization that includes Strategic Planning, Communications, Marketing, Sales, Solutions and Public Affairs. These changes will enable more seamless development and execution of UPS's business strategies," concluded Abney.
